Boston's Original · Since 1999
A DJ set, with live sax on top.
A saxophonist performing live over the DJ set: true solos, out in the crowd on the big songs. The wow factor your guests won't see coming.
How it works
Your favorite dance hits, elevated with live sax.
The DJ runs the night: announcements, timeline and a floor-reading set that never stops. The sax works off the DJ, stepping in when a horn-heavy song lands and playing the lines your guests already know. Book it solo or pair it with live percussion.

In Action
See the room move.
A few minutes on a real dance floor says more than any description. Here's the DJ + sax combo at work.
DJ + Live Sax
Solo sax over the DJ set, or a duo with live percussion. From sultry cocktail-hour standards to peak-hour house drops, the sax follows the party wherever the DJ takes it.
The C-Zone Difference
The sax is the spark, not the soundtrack.
Since the sax fusion went viral, it seems like every company books a live sax player with the DJ and most of them never stop playing. Two hours of nonstop riffing fatigues the listener. We pioneered this experience decades before the trend and we choose the right moments, so the horn always lands fresh and energizes the room.

Saved for the moment
The sax is there to ignite the room, not to fill it. We wait for the song that deserves the horn, send it into the crowd and let the floor erupt.

In conversation with the DJ
A loop opens up, the vocal drops away and the sax takes a real solo. A scratch signals the exit. The two build the arrangement on the spot.

Real players, no props
No standing on tables. No jumping off furniture. Just precision, tone and groove from true professionals: an energy your guests will feel even if they can't explain why.

Since 1999
“I saw DJs in London playing with live musicians and it blew me away. I played sax and I spun vinyl, so I brought both to Boston.”
That was 1999: no laptop, no backing tracks, just turntables and a tenor sax. The act became my calling card in Boston's clubs until C-Zone's wedding calendar took over in 2003.
Almost thirty years of professional playing later, my rule for every player on the roster hasn't changed: move somebody with one note rather than impress yourself with a thousand.

Good Questions
Frequently asked
Does the sax player play the whole night?+
No, by design. Some songs should just be enjoyed with no accompaniment. Ten minutes might go by with no sax at all, then the right song hits and the horn steps onto the floor. Because we save it, it stays special from the first appearance to the last.
Do they just play along with the melody?+
We do play along when there are iconic horn parts or familiar melodies. But our sax players also improvise and our DJs make room for it in their mixes. The vocal drops away, the drums and bass keep looping and the sax takes a true solo.
Does the sax player get into the crowd?+
On the big songs, yes: center of the dance floor, shoulder to shoulder with your guests, horn overhead. In between they play beside the DJ and wait for the next moment that deserves it.
Which songs work with live sax?+
Anything with a horn line or room for one: Earth, Wind & Fire to Bad Bunny, Latin to house. Greg keeps a running list of proven sax tunes; pick your favorites and both the DJ and the player come prepared. If a song doesn't suit the horn, we let it play straight.
Will the sax player know our music?+
Yes. They go through the requests in your planning portal ahead of the event and learn every song that fits the horn.
Can we add live percussion?+
Absolutely. Live congas add a rich, driving rhythm beneath the music while the saxophone soars above it, with your DJ seamlessly tying it all together. The result is our biggest, fullest sound: second only to a complete live band.
