Milestones & anniversaries
Sweet 16s, birthday parties, retirements. We build the set around the guest of honor and the decades in the room, then bring everyone else along.
Graduations
High school or college, one graduate or the whole class. Three generations in the yard and a set that lands for all of them.
Backyard & waterfront parties
A tent, a dance floor, dinner by the water. Live jazz or strings while the sun is up and a DJ after dark.
The Approach
No script, no schedule. A private party runs on a feeling.
There's no announcement that tells everyone to dance, so we open the floor with the music: the tempo climbs, the lights dim, the uplighting slides from a static color into motion and the room understands. Somebody has to be back there programming the energy all night. That's the part we love.
The Planning
Give us as much, or as little, direction as you'd like.
Most clients tell us the same two things: “We've never planned a party like this,” and “We just want everyone on the dance floor.” That's all we need to get started. Before your event, we'll guide you through a personalized planning consultation to fine-tune every detail, from must-play songs to special moments, at whatever level of involvement feels right for you.
The vibe
Tell us the atmosphere you want as guests arrive and the moment you want it to peak. We take it from there.
Genres & decades
Motown through dinner, nineties hip-hop once the sun sets, Latin when your cousins take over. Broad strokes are plenty.
Music, your way
Create must-play and do-not-play lists in our planning portal, add notes to any song, or simply share the Spotify playlists you've already created. We'll build the perfect soundtrack from there.
The Logistics
Built for backyards
A living room, a tent or a yard is not a ballroom with a loading dock. We pack for that.
- If the power goes out and you booked wireless uplighting, it doubles as emergency illumination: even in a blackout, the space stays lit.
- Extra-long power and speaker cables ride along too, plus a spare linen.
- We just need three things from you: reliable power within about fifty feet, a six- or eight-foot banquet table with a linen and cover from sun or rain if we're set up outside.
- We bring everything else.

During the filming of Mystic River, Sean Penn, Tim Robbins, Susan Sarandon and Clint Eastwood kept booking out Felt, the Boston club where I had a residency spinning vinyl on the turntables and blowing sax over the top. Private parties have been part of C-Zone from the very start.
Since then, our DJs have played private events for Lady Gaga, actors like John Lithgow, the Mayor of Boston and dozens of parties for the President of Harvard University. The rooms change. The job doesn't: get everybody onto one dance floor and keep them there.

What does the booking process look like?+
Check every service you're curious about on the quote form and we'll reply with ballpark pricing. From there you'll consult with the DJ, discuss the entire event and we'll follow up with a customized proposal specific to your needs and taste. After you e-sign the contract, your planning portal opens and the collaboration begins.
What do you require for a deposit?+
One third of the total reserves your date and the balance is due one month before the event. We send an automated reminder so you don't have to keep track of anything.
Do you offer a discount for booking multiple services?+
Yes. Our event packages bundle the most-requested services at a lower rate than booking each one individually. Packages are fixed as listed, so if one doesn't fit your plans we'll customize a package for you instead.
How does DJ matching work?+
Tell us your venue, your crowd and your music and we'll propose the DJ who fits, then you talk with them before anything is signed. Every DJ on the roster trained under Greg, so the standard doesn't change.
What makes C-Zone different from other DJ companies?+
The parties are high energy yet the approach is understated and never intrusive. No ego, no gimmicks. The secret sauce is reading the crowd and playing the right song at the right time inside seamless mixes. When you know the music inside out and have real technical skill on the decks, the dance floor stays packed for hours. We thread a needle through every generation so everyone ends up dancing. Our musicians are trained artists who have worked rooms for decades. It's top-tier talent bringing your vision to life.
Do you take song requests and 'do not play' lists?+
Yes. Your planning portal has must-play and do-not-play lists plus the full planning form and timeline. On the night of your party, the DJ works in all your favorites, avoids any songs you don't like and caters the rest of the selections to the crowd reaction and the body language on the dance floor.
Can we send you Spotify playlists instead of using the portal?+
Yes. If you've already curated playlists, just share them with us and label what's a must-play, what's a play-if-possible and what's a do-not-play. Separate lists for cocktail hour or dinner are welcome too. Most clients land somewhere in the middle: a handful of requests for dancing, a couple for dinner and the rest left in our hands.
Are you insured?+
Yes. We carry liability insurance and send certificates straight to your venue. Most Boston-area venues already have ours on file.
What areas do you serve?+
Greater Boston and all of New England: North Shore, South Shore, MetroWest, Cape Cod. For events more than an hour from Boston, travel fees are quoted up front.
